Moderated sessions require the recording of your facial expression, voice, and device screen.
> ⚠️ All recordings and information gathered will be used for research purposes only.
## **Before You Begin**
1. Install the 'DeepDive by UXArmy' app on your mobile device.
- Android: Download from [Google Play Store](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uxarmy.deepdive&hl=en_US&gl=US).
- iPhone/iPad: Download from the [App Store](http://apps.apple.com/us/app/deepdive-by-uxarmy/id1544218996).
2. Make sure you have:
- A stable internet connection.
- A working microphone.
- Screen recording permissions enabled.
- The session invitation link provided by the researcher.

# **Joining a Session**
## **Step 1: Install the DeepDive App**
If DeepDive is not installed on your device:
1. Open the invitation link provided by the researcher.
2. Install the DeepDive app from your device's app store.
3. Open the DeepDive app after installation.
## **Step 2: Open the Invitation Link**
1. Open the invitation link provided by the researcher.
2. The link will automatically open DeepDive.
Alternatively:
1. Open the DeepDive app.
2. Paste the session link into the link field.
3. Tap the arrow button.

## **Step 3: Enter the Session**
1. Tap "Let's Go".
2. Enter your name.
3. Tap "Join Session".

## **Step 4: Wait for Moderator Approval**
After joining:
1. Wait for the moderator to approve your request.
2. Do not close the application while waiting.

# **Granting Permissions**
DeepDive requires microphone and screen-sharing permissions to participate in the session.
## **Microphone Permission**
When prompted:
### **Android**
Tap "While using the app" or "Only this time" to allow microphone access.

### **iPhone**
Tap "OK" to allow microphone access.
# **Sharing Your Screen**
The moderator may ask you to share your screen during the session.
## **Android**
1. Tap the Share button.
2. Select Start Now when Android asks for screen recording permission.
3. Select Single screen or Entire Screen based on your moderator instructions

## **iPhone**
1. Tap the Share button.
2. Select DeepDive from the Screen Broadcast menu.
3. Tap Start Broadcast.
4. Return to the session.

# **During the Session**
Once connected, you will see the session room.
The bottom toolbar contains the following controls:
- Mic – Turn your microphone on or off.
- Camera – Turn your camera on or off.
- Share – Start or stop screen sharing.
- End – Leave the session.

# **Chat With The Moderator**
If you cannot hear the moderator or need assistance:
1. Tap the Chat icon.
2. Type your message.
3. Send it to the moderator.
The moderator can also send instructions through chat.

# **Important Notes For iPhone Users**
When screen sharing is active, iOS may display a Screen Broadcast window.
Everything displayed on your screen, including notifications, may be visible to the moderator during screen sharing.
To avoid interruptions:
- Enable Do Not Disturb mode before the session.
- Close applications containing sensitive information.
- Keep DeepDive running during the session.
# **Leaving the Session**
When the study is complete:
1. Tap the End button.
2. Confirm if prompted.
3. Close the application.
The moderator will inform you when the session has ended.

# **Troubleshooting**
## **I Cannot Join The Session**
- It is possible that your Moderator has not started the Session.
- Ensure that you are on Google Chrome browser (if using a Computer)
- Check your internet connection. You must not be under a firewall or using a VPN.
- Verify that the invitation link is correct.
- Ensure the latest version of DeepDive is installed.
- Restart the DeepDive mobile app and try again.
## **My Microphone Is Not Working**
- Leave and rejoin the session.
- Restart the DeepDive application.
- Ensure the latest version of DeepDive is installed.
## **Screen Sharing Is Not Working**
- Stop sharing and start again.
- Rejoin the session.
- Follow any instructions provided by the moderator.
## **The Moderator can ask you to Switch Devices**
In some studies, the moderator may ask you to leave the session a mobile device and continue on your computer. Or this can be other way round.
To switch devices:
1. Leave the current session.
2. Open the invitation link on Google Chrome browser on your computer / DeepDive app.
3. Rejoin the session.
