**DeepDive supports the following roles:**

1. Moderator - up to 2
2. Translator - up to 2
3. Observers - up to 25
4. Participant - if you want to conduct an interview with more than 1 participant, use Dyad or Triad.

**Moderator** is owner of the UXArmy account in which the session has been created / needs to be started from. The moderator is in-charge of conducting the session and will be mainly leading and guiding the participant through the session. The moderator is is supposed to login to their UXArmy account, select DeepDive product and start a Live or a booked / scheduled Session.

**Note**: It is a must that Moderator must join via **Google Chrome browser on a computer**. Other browsers are not supported.

The Moderator can promote an Observer to the role of an additional Moderator. 

Both the Moderators will be visible to the participant during the session. Up to 2 Moderators can be present in the session. Both moderators can take Notes and insert Bookmarks.


**Observers** can join a session from any device computer, mobile, or tablet to watch the session without being visible to the participant. They can observe participants’ behaviour, take notes, and raise questions with moderators via an internal chat. The internal chat is hidden from the participants. 

If one or more translators are present, the Observers can choose to listen to the session in their preferred language through one of the 2 dedicated audio channels. 

Observers don’t need to **log in** to the UXArmy platform to **join the session**.

Observers can join the call from a desktop browser without needing to create an account or download any application. However, if they are joining the session from a mobile phone, they will need to install the UXArmy **DeepDive mobile app**.


**Translators** join in the session in the Observer role. The Moderator needs to promote / assign the translator role. Translators can hear the Moderators and the Participant(s), providing a simultaneously translated version of their conversation exclusively to the observers.

### Changing Roles in a DeepDive session

During a session, the Moderator can change the role of Observers to a Moderator or Translator.

- Go to “Attendees” and then check the list of “Observers” who have joined the session.
- Beside the Observer’s name you want to promote, click on the dropdown.

> ⚠️ There can only be **a maximum of 2 Moderators** and 2 Translators in each session.
