This guide will walk you through how to take a mobile app test using the **UserAdvocate app on an Android Phone or Android tablet**. It covers everything from logging in, starting a test, recording your screen, completing tasks, and submitting your test successfully.

If you are part of the **UXArmy's user panel**, you will receive a test invitation via email.

If you are an external participant, you can start the test using the link shared with you.

### **Note**

The email above indicates that the test is designed for both Android and iOS devices. 

However, some tests are device-specific and may require you to use a particular device such as an Android phone, tablet, iPhone, or iPad. Please read your test invitation email carefully and use the specified device to complete the test successfully.

### **For First-time User**

Before starting your test, remember to

1. Ensure you have downloaded the 'UserAdvocate by UXArmy' app from the Google Play Store
2. Have yourself seated in a quiet place
3. Wearing earphones(optional) for good voice recording quality
4. Make sure the device is connected to strong Wi-Fi (specially check Wi-Fi Upload speed) or the internet for a smooth video uploading.
5. Some tests may ask you to choose your preferred language before starting the test.

- Tap on the language option (top right corner)
- You will see a list of available languages
- Select your preferred language

## **Step 1: Open the App & Log In**

For testers who are not a part of UXArmy Panel, click on the test link. The test will open in the UserAdvocate app if installed and directly show the Test. If the UserAdvocate app is not installed you would be asked to download this app from the AppStore first.

For the UserAdvocate Panelists:

- Open / Download the **UserAdvocate app**
- Login to your account in the UserAdvocate app by any of the following
  - Clicking Login as UserAdvocate (use the same email as the one used for registering)
  - Clicking "Forgot Password" to set a new password

## **Step 2: View Available Tests**

- On the home screen, go to **Available Tests**
- Select the test you want to take
- Tap **“View Details”**

## **Step 3: Read Test Details Carefully**

- Review:
  - Test instructions
  - Important reminders
- If prompted, accept the **terms (Non-disclosure Agreements (NDA) / consent)**
- Tap **“Start Test”**

## **Step 4: Allow Permissions**

You will be asked to allow:

- Screen recording
- Microphone access

Tap **“Start Broadcast”** when prompted, as shown in the image below. Make sure that you turn the Microphone On. Do not deny any permissions otherwise, your test shall not proceed / will not be recorded.

## **Step 5: Start the Test**

- Tap **“Start Test”**
- Read each task carefully before starting
- Tap **“Start Task”**

While performing tasks:

- Speak your thoughts out loud *(very important)*
- Share your feedback clearly
- Follow instructions step by step

## **Step 6: App Installation is Required**

- You will see **Install Testing App** screen
- Tap the **App Store link**
- Install the required app
- Return to **UserAdvocate app**
- Tick:  
 *“I confirm I have installed all required apps”*
- Tap **Continue**

## **Step 7: Complete Tasks**

- After completing a task:
  - Tap **“Task Completed”**
  - Or tap **“Continue Task”** to go back and complete that task

Once a Task is marked completed, you cannot go back.

## **Types of Tasks You May See**

- App navigation tasks
- Prototype interactions
- Speaking / feedback tasks
- First-click or image-based tasks
- Survey questions

## **Step 8: Submit the Test**

- After all tasks are completed:
  - Tap **“Submit Test”**

## **Step 9: Upload Recording **

- Your screen recording will start uploading automatically
- You will see **upload progress**

Important instructions:

- Do **NOT close the app**
- Do **NOT switch to other apps**
- Wait until you see the Completion Confirmation screen which shows
  - **“Your feedback was received”**
