### **General Testers**

How are these Tests different from an Online Survey?

To help improve a Website or App, you need experience with it. So these Tests involve the usage of those websites or Apps. Each Test has a few Tasks that are relevant to ease of use and user-friendliness. Tasks must be well understood, so please do not rush through.

What do I need to prepare to take a Test?

To take the Tests built for Mobile, you’ll need an Internet connection, access to Wi-Fi, and an Android or iOS smartphone/tablet/phablet.

To take the Tests built for the Computer, you’ll need access to a desktop/laptop computer, a microphone (built-in or as a USB accessory), and a stable Internet connection.

What is recorded during the Test?

For unmoderated tests, your voice and screen will be recorded. The recording is only active during the duration of the Test.

For moderated tests, your voice, and your face will be recorded. In some tests, your camera will also be recording your facial expressions during the test to keep track of your reactions during the test.

Would my face be recorded?

For unmoderated testing, no. The UserAdvocate App does not have access to the Camera of your Smartphone or Computer.

However, in moderated testing, you may be required to turn on your webcam or selfie camera to allow the moderators and notetakers to see your facial reactions to a certain product.

What is verbal or spoken feedback?

Researchers are not mind-readers, they don’t know about the reasoning behind the interactions that you made with the website/App. To understand and make your participation useful, we require you to think your thoughts loud and spontaneously - as they occur to you. The product owners, researchers, designers, etc. who build the Tests can not learn anything without your frank voiced out thoughts and feedback.

How important is it to give verbal feedback?

Absolutely important and required. Without your spoken feedback, the screen video that you upload is just like watching a movie without audio and subtitles. In short, feedback that is not useful would not be approved by our clients who seek your feedback.

How may I improve my voice recording quality to sound clearer?

Headphones, Headphones, Headphones! Our Clients can't make use of your feedback just based on moving screens and a muffled voice, murmuring, or complete silence. Since the mic is very sensitive to sounds, use Headphones during the Test to avoid noise interfering with your voice. It is not useful listening to the sound of your fan, palm, or clothes rubbing against the mic or other noise from the background. So please always use headphones while taking a Test.

What should I do if the prototype in the unmoderated testing is not displaying or functioning well?

If there's any technical issue that happens in the test, please exit the test immediately and write an email to [hi@uxarmy.com](mailto:hi@uxarmy.com). We will come to assist you shortly.

### **UserAdvocate**

Who are the UXArmy UserAdvocates?

UXArmy UserAdvocates are people from all over the world (except Europe) who sign up to test websites and apps that are still in development or even before they’re released to the public. They are trained to provide constructive feedback on how easy or friendly they are to use. We provide recruitment at an additional cost if you need very specific users, you send an email to [hi@uxarmy.com](mailto:hi@uxarmy.com) to let us know your needs.

What are you looking for in a UserAdvocate?

You don’t need special technical expertise, the only real requirement is that you are 18 or older. We’re seeking consumers with a range of technology experiences to provide constructive feedback on user-friendliness and ease of use in websites, apps, chatbots, and more.

Your opinion is important! We’re not looking for people to just say good/bad, like/dislike. You should be willing to provide your suggestions on how an app or website could have worked better for you.

How will my personal data be used?

We mainly use your personal data to select you for the right test or study, to process compensation, and to improve our utilization of your service as an UserAdvocate. We do not sell, trade, or rent our UserAdvocates information to others. Learn more about our Privacy Policy.

Where do I get started?

Either register interest in our Campaigns or Sign Up and download the UserAdvocate App on your Smartphone. Activate your UXArmy account.

What am I being compensated for?

We pay you for taking a test and submitting your comments and suggestions along with the required recordings. Screen recording is required for most tests, voice recording for some. The instructions will tell you what’s required.

How much money do I make?

First of all, UXArmy is a feedback platform, not meant to earn stable passive income. Payment is commensurate with the complexity of the task or study. For task-based tests that record your think-out-loud audio and video, the average compensation is between $10 - $30. For standard surveys, the average compensation is $5 - $10. In-person interviews and user research average $100, and payment varies depending on the length and complexity of the study and user demographic.

How do I get paid?

We pay the incentives to our UserAdvocates via PayPal or other payment methods available to us. You need to provide your PayPal ID via UserAdvocate App or by writing to [hi@uxarmy.com](mailto:hi@uxarmy.com) You will receive your payment within 21 working days after completing a website or app test.

For countries where PayPal is not well supported, contact us at [hi@uxarmy.com](mailto:hi@uxarmy.com) to enquire about other payment methods.

Why does it take 21 working days to get paid for completing a test?

This waiting period allows our Clients to approve your video “only screen and voice recording”. A test is only considered complete when your screen recording is uploaded, so make sure you connect to a good quality Internet connection (we recommend Wi-Fi). Uploading via Data connection (4G/LTE) could be expensive.

How do you prevent people from creating multiple accounts?

We have in place algorithms that check on feedback from the UXArmy UserAdvocates panel and ensure that all the feedbacks benefit the business. Additionally, validations are also in place to ensure that users do not create multiple accounts to earn credit without giving additional value to businesses. Dishonesty in providing feedback may render your account deactivated or banned, and credits forfeited if evidence has been validated by our management team.

What to do if the prototype in the unmoderated testing is not displaying and functioning well?

If there's any technical issue that happens in the test, please exit the test immediately and write an email to [hi@uxarmy.com](mailto:hi@uxarmy.com). We will assist you.
